Five Steps To Success

1. Secure device around torso. Connect ladder strap until RED MEETS RED.

2. Position bladder over target site.

3. Tighten belt and remove all slack.

4. Use ratcheting buckle to complete tightening.

5. Inflate bladder until GREEN indicator shows.

Abdominal

Abdominal Stabilization Overview

The AAJT-S tourniquet works well for controlling abdominal bleeding in emergency situations because it is easy to use, portable, and can be applied quickly. The AAJT-S tourniquet can be applied by a single person adjusted to provide the appropriate amount of compression for the individual patient.  

Abdominal bleeding can be life-threatening, and it is important for healthcare professionals to be able to effectively manage and control this type of bleeding. The abdominal cavity contains many important organs, such as the liver, spleen, and stomach, and bleeding from these organs can lead to serious complications. Bleeding from the abdominal aorta, which is the main blood vessel in the abdomen, can be particularly dangerous.

It is important for healthcare professionals to be able to quickly, and effectively, control abdominal bleeding in order to prevent serious complications and improve patient outcomes. The AAJT-S tourniquet is a valuable tool that can be used in emergency situations to control abdominal bleeding.

Axilla

Axilla Stabilization Overview

Bleeding in the axilla, also known as axillary hemorrhage, can occur as a result of a variety of injuries or conditions. Some common causes of axillary bleeding include trauma to the upper arm or armpit, surgical procedures in the axilla, and certain medical conditions that affect blood clotting.

One of the main issues with axillary bleeding is that the axilla is a relatively confined space, making it difficult to control and manage bleeding. The axillary artery is a major blood vessel, which means that bleeding from this area can be significant and potentially life-threatening.

The AAJT-S tourniquet is designed to control bleeding from the axillary artery, a major blood vessel located in the armpit. The AAJT-S uses a band or tourniquet that is applied to the upper arm just above the armpit, compressing the axillary artery and reducing blood flow to the area. This helps to stop or slow down bleeding from injuries or surgical procedures in the axilla. The band is tightened with a ratchet mechanism, and a pressure indicator is used to ensure that the appropriate amount of compression is applied.

Inguinal

Inguinal/Groin Stabilization Overview

Bleeding in the inguinal, also known as the groin area, can be extremely dangerous in accidents and traumas as it can lead to significant blood loss and death. The femoral artery, which runs through the groin, is one of the largest blood vessels in the body and can bleed profusely if damaged. The pelvic area contains many vital organs, such as the bladder and intestines, that can be easily injured in accidents and traumas, further exacerbating the bleeding.

The AAJT-S (Advanced Axis Joint Tourniquet-Special Operations) is designed to effectively control inguinal bleeding. It is a unique design that allows the tourniquet to be applied at the hip joint, rather than the thigh, which allows for better compression of the femoral artery. The AAJT-S is made with a durable and lightweight material, making it easy to carry and use in emergency situations. It is also designed with a ratcheting system that allows for easy and accurate tension adjustment, ensuring proper compression of the artery.

Pelvic Fracture

Pelvic Fracture Stabilization Overview

Every year over 150,000 pelvic fractures occur in the U.S. due mainly to automobile accidents and trauma. Sadly up to 40% of these victims die from hemorrhages related to their fractures. The AAJT-S can not only stabilize the pelvis so that the patient can be transported safely and securely to a hospital, but it can also turn off the faucet and stop the undetected bleeding associated with this injury so that the patient can get the care that they need in an environment that is equipped to handle this type of situation.

REBOA Trauma

REBOA Trauma Overview

REBOA or (resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta) stops massive bleeding and confines the blood volume to the heart, brain and kidneys. It can be a life-saving intervention for severely bleeding patients. Unfortunately, REBOA is limited right now to hospital use by a physician and requires catheterization and ultrasound equipment, but the AAJT-S can produce a ‘REBOA Effect’ in under a minute. In August 2017 independent investigators from the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and the Air Force’s 59th Medical Wing presented research showing that the AAJT-S is equivalent to Zone 3 REBOA. (Journal of Surgical Research, Volume 226, June 2018). The AAJT-S provides the life saving. Benefits of REBOA at the point of injury without the patient risk or the high cost of the equipment required to perform the procedure.
