Dmytro Androshchuk, MD, is a frontline trauma surgeon with the medical service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He recently co-authored a case series about outcomes for six soldiers who were resuscitated using a novel abdominal tourniquet.
All six soldiers were treated with the device, called the Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet-Stabilized (AAJT-S), for traumatic cardiac arrest due to exsanguination. Treatment occurred at forward surgical stabilization sites during battles at two locations: one in Bakhmut in July 2022 and another in Slovyansk in May 2023. www.compressionworks.com
