May 11, 2023 – Birmingham, AL - Compression Works Inc., the medical device company that developed the Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet - Stabilized (AAJT-S), is proud to announce that it will be showcasing their life-saving technology and leading lab training programs at the prestigious Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA) conference. The aim of this event is to educate attendees about AAJT-S's multi-functional benefits.
SOMA is the leading professional organization that focuses on enhancing the knowledge, experience, skills, and wisdom of current and future Special Operations and Tactical providers.
The SOMA 2023 Training, Education, and Scientific Assembly will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina, from May 15-19, 2023. Compression Works will be providing hands-on demonstrations of the AAJT-S junctional tourniquet at booth #632. Moreover, the company will be providing comprehensive training at lab events on Thursday, May 18th, at both 8 am (currently sold out) and 10:15 am, with limited spots still available.
The AAJT-S junctional tourniquet has been specifically designed to effectively control hemorrhaging and prevent fatalities during pre-hospital care following a traumatic injury. The device holds the distinction of being the sole junctional hemostatic device that has received clearance for controlling pelvic bleeding and is the only device that has recorded lives saved in upper and lower junctional bleeding.
"Every year, tens of thousands of people die from non-compressible hemorrhages, and injuries to the abdomen, axilla, pelvis and inguinal areas require immediate care from emergency medical professionals and combat medics to stabilize accident victims and battlefield casualties," said Compression Works President and CEO Scott Dodson. "The ability to control difficult-to-manage hemorrhages quickly and easily is crucial for patient survival until they can reach definitive care. Members of the military, special operations and emergency medical communities continue to demonstrate the successful use of the AAJT-S device to stop bleeding and save lives," added Dodson.
The AAJT-S device provides multi-functional hemorrhage control and is FDA-cleared to control bleeding in the axilla, inguinal and pelvis and for pelvic fracture stabilizations. When applied at the mid-abdominal level, the AAJT-S has also been proven to be equivalent to Zone 3 REBOA. Evidence of the efficacy of the device has been presented in scientific articles appearing in over 70 publications.
"Our presence and lab training sessions at SOMA 2023 will help educate more medical providers on the multi-functional uses of the AAJT-S junctional tourniquet and clearly outline the extensive and life-saving benefits of the device," said Compression Works Chief Medical Officer John Croushorn, MD. "The AAJT-S is equipping EMS, special operations, and military professionals to save lives globally, and we want to continually expand where the AAJT-S is available to stop life-threatening bleeding whenever and wherever it occurs," concluded Dr. Croushorn.
